Our Journey of 35 Years

It is September, and along with the festivities of the GOD of auspicious events, a faint tune of the old song ‘Come September’ lingers around. The season of Ganpati is all about new beginnings and blessings.

For us, at United HR Solutions Pvt Ltd, it is the season of gratitude and nostalgia. Why? Because September is our birthday month!

Yes! On 5th September, 35 years ago, we started from a proprietorship concern, called United Consultants, run by a father-daughter duo. From the days when the concept of a recruitment consultancy was new in the vocabulary of the city of Ahmedabad, we have come a long way. This miniscule two-member team grew up to be a franchise network of 10 branches around the country. We transformed ourselves into a corporate structure soon, becoming United Placement Pvt ltd, and later to United HR Solutions Pvt ltd.

What was our Vision? We all had a common Vision with a Mission of Bringing people together with a Human Touch. Since the inception of United HR Solutions, we have kept the Rotary four-way test in mind, especially the bit which asks one to ponder: Is it Fair to All Concerned?

It has been our mission to ensure fairness in dealing with our clients and candidates. Openness about the process and the communication, taking ownership of the assignment to ensure that we understood the needs of the clients and the candidates, alike. We have always stood TALL for our ethics and work culture. We believe in placing the right people at right places, in the right way.

How have we spread our wings, and where has the light of our vision taken our clients and candidates? The continent of Africa had always been our starting point and continues to be the core of our journey. We continue to explore newer territories, and have shown the jyot, the Torch, to Indian professionals in 30+ countries so far. Many of our candidates thus placed have grown in their careers to ranks of GM/CEO’s. We are Proud to call these GMs and CEOs as some of our Regular Clientele.

We continue to spread the light within the Indian recruitment scenario in various hues and shades. Having tasted the work cultures of multinationals like General Motors, General Electric by doing their Turnkey staffing, we moved on to  key role placements in companies in almost every industry. Thanks to our Baroda branch, we have also tested waters in Temp staffing and excelled in Process/ speciality chemical industry recruitments.

In our 35-year-old journey, our strength has been our people. As the name UNITED suggests, they have remained United with us, some of them since the early years of inception. We are filled with a new wave of nostalgia as we realise, we also have people associated with us for close to 20 to 25+ years.

We value their association and are proud of their accomplishments. It’s after all the TEAM which makes the COMPANY, as TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE MORE.

Life at UHR: Same Old, Same Old? Not at all!

It is important to acknowledge that life could get monotonous.

And monotony could lead to various phenomena like falling motivation levels, lack of productivity and a general lack of willingness to learn new things.

W asked our employees at UHR their take on working here and they have a different story to tell.

As one employee has said, it is the “best consultancy to work with”. Our employees have admitted to honing up many of their supposedly ‘other’ skills as well, in addition to their job descriptions.

“I have improved my multitasking skills, and also I have learned to deal with different type of people” says one employee.

The employee further says, “I have gained self-confidence, and learned to work under pressure.”

“There is always a lot to learn not only through failures, mistakes but also through successful placements” says another employee.

One employee further says, “I have gained knowledge of many different industries and profiles.”

The above point could actually be considered a perk of working in the recruitment industry!

To add more to the list of perks, one employee says, “there are new things to learn every day.”

As obvious as sounds, the best way to break monotony is variety. As one employee very aptly puts about life at United HR, ” The work is same but each time there is a different story. There is variety in terms of positions the clients are looking for, the clients themselves. Each client has a different set of priorities.”

The work thus, is never the ‘same’.

“It’s really a fusion of confusion, conflict, confidence, uncertainty. At the end of the day, it is about enjoying all circumstances.” A healthy amount of tension, anxiety, stress is necessary to excel and learn better methods of coping with work pressure.

“We all work under the same roof but everyone has a different style of working, and everyone is different from each other.” Variety and an even division of tasks for everyone is something commonly found at United HR.

This variety not only in the distribution of tasks but of the very nature of the work ensures that there is never a dull moment.

Life at United HR, and the variety it provides is the opposite of the repetitive, the monotonous and the dead-end. It is the perfect antidote to monotony.

Life at UHR: The Positive Environment

Workplaces all over the world are trying to make their employees “comfortable” while on their jobs. With the millennial population entering job market, the attempts to appeal the young generation are increasing even more, with various perks and incentives offered.

At United HR, thinking about our employees is not a recent practice. We asked them all what they have to say about working at UHR. Our employees, young and old alike have expressed their admiration for the work environment we offer.

A common complaint many people have regarding their workplace is the “corporate slavery” they are subjected to.

Our employees have a different story to tell. “It is like a second home” tells one employee.

“There is a really friendly atmosphere”, says another. “The office atmosphere is really good”, we find the reflection in the words of yet another employee.

“UHR is a family member” says another. Echoes to the previous statement are found in the opinions of most employees. “United is like family”, says one employee. “It is a good environment to work.”

“There is freedom and a homely environment” says one employee when asked about the positives about life at United HR.

Talking about the positives, “positivity” itself is something that is again listed as a great quality of the work environment we offer.

Many workplaces are notorious for treating freshers almost like second class citizens.

One employee mentions how she started as a one, and how it felt “overwhelming” at first. But  she goes on to say how she later came to learn a lot while on the job. She terms life at UHR as “amazing.”

It is necessary that the young and the more experienced employees share a good rapport, and that there is a certain exchange in terms of learning.

“The team members are supportive and the seniors have helped in enhancing my skills” says an employee while talking about the interpersonal interactions at UHR.

Another employee lauds the “motivational colleagues” they get to work with.

An articulate employee sums up how the vibes and the interactions at United HR are:

“There is a certain team spirit and working with a group of young, enthusiastic people is fun. There is transparency in the environment, knowledge sharing takes place. Moreover, there is a great team of Team Leaders who have been with UHR for so long. It’s a great support. There are ample opportunities to grow if you wish and try.”

Interactions where people don’t hesitate to speak up, where there is a healthy exchange of ideas, where there is scope for knowledge-enhancing conversations and where your colleagues feel like your family, and the office a second home- these are some of the factors that contribute to the positive vibes at United HR.
